Innovative RFID Solution for Compact and Powerful EV Charging Stations

An internationally recognized company for automation solutions has been developing an innovative wallbox for electric vehicles since 2013/2014. In this project, the company faces the challenge of finding a compact and high-performance RFID reader/ RFID card reader solution that seamlessly integrates into the wallbox design. The solution must be flexible for both private use and public charging points, without increasing costs or jeopardizing the necessary certifications for the European and North American markets.

In this context, our 881 RFID and NFC module offers the ideal solution. This module impresses with its compact design, which is only slightly larger than a 50-cent coin, and an integrated antenna that provides excellent performance with minimal space requirements. The energy-efficient architecture of the 881 module, as well as the option to connect an external antenna, enables efficient and cost-effective production of the wallboxes.

The module supports all common RFID Tags and NFC devices like MIFARE cards. Additionally, it complies with essential certifications, including CE, EMV, and FCC, required for the European and North American markets.

Thanks to this solution, wallboxes can be offered both for private use without an RFID module and for public areas with the 881 module. This flexibility supports RFID for Access Control, allowing seamless IoT and RFID Integration. It also enables significant cost savings in production and a broad market launch, ranging from early adopters to public fleet deployments.
