Our 840-FM smart card connector accepts any smart or chip card according to the ISO format. Integrated into the connector are friction ISO pins, which have been designed to even withstand the more and more common metal cards. Additionally, it is equipped with a card present switch, which signals that the card is now in its correct position and is ready to be read.
The 840-FM smart card connector is also equipped with various options and add-ons, allowing it to be scaled exactly to the needs and requirements of the application. It comes with a start switch, to allow the system to turn-off a nearby RFID antenna, so that the smart card is not accidently read contactless, as it is being inserted into the connector.
In order to discharge any electromagnetic loaded cards (e.g., credit cards), the 840 smart card connector can optionally be equipped with an ESD deflector, which discharges the cards before they hit the ISO8 contact pins. And to prevent damage to the pins through vandalism or falsely inserted cards, a pin contact safety can be inserted into the connector.
